Located in Swifts Creek, the Creekers Cafe
offers a great stop on the Great Alpine Road for real coffee in
air conditioned comfort.
The site was purchased by Bill Grinter for
£40 from Lindsay Jorgensen when the
latter went to war in the 1940s. The building was constructed
in 1947 by Vic and Russ Boucher for Bill Grinter (owner
of a local transport company) as a storage unit known as
"Grinters Shed".
It was later sold and used as a mechanics workshop until 2004,
when it was transformed into the fully refurbished up market
cafe known as "Creekers". The building still has the original
walls and floor and maintains the
authentic look of "Grinters Shed".
Creekers offers high quality cafe Coffex coffee, as well as fresh foods
and a range of Hunter and Gatherer products. So dine in and
enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of a family cafe, or order a
takeaway. |
